Our Summer Kickoff tournament started during a conversation between a mother, searching for a way to create a positive event within her community to promote equity and a club tournament director looking for a location to host their annual Pride Grass tournament. Both discussed the issues of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, social economic backgrounds and other offensive and discriminating conduct seen in and around the communities of Portland and unfortunately, across the Nation. Both agreed there is a need for an event at the Juniors level to help promote and support Parkrose High School's Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Policy. The Quads Juniors Tournament was a perfect complement to the adult Pride Grass Tournament PGVC hosts every year, as well as PGVC's mission statement to help build a safe zone for the GLBTQ community, their friends, family, and allies through the sport of volleyball. With the encouragement of CEVA's Membership & Communications Manager it was decided that the Juniors tournament would be a CEVA sanctioned event to be hosted at Parkrose High School and sponsored by Portland Gay Volleyball Club. CEVA's Diversity and Inclusion Committee has come on board to support us. They will be at the event to build a better understanding on how they provide educational resources and training to the Columbia Empire Volleyball Region: club directors, coaches, players, tournament directors, officials, and parents. We invite everyone to come join in on the fun, playing a sport we all love, and help us
